Job Description
My client, a mid-tier Accounting and Auditing firm in the Southern Suburbs, seeks an Accountant to join their stable team and be responsible for the accounting of a portfolio of clients
Responsibilities:
- Manage and initiate the process of client information receipts, sales, invoices purchase invoices
- Complete bank reconciliations
- Process and reconcile petty cash and cash control accounts
- Manage fixed asset register
- Manage general journals (depreciation, provisions, interest, salaries, stock etc.
- Process journal entries
- Reconcile debtors and creditors statements
- Review AFS-GP%, Inventory days, Creditors days, Debtors days
- Rectify accounting treatment on disposal of assets (property, plant & equipment) and investments and calculation of taxation on capital gains/losses
- Analyze the trial balance for mistakes/deviations and discuss results with clients
- Generate draft set of financials
- Recognize provisions and contingent liabilities
- Calculate tax liability for sole proprietors, individuals, close corporations and trusts, small business corporations and partnerships
- Reconcile input/output VAT to monthly trial balance
- Compile and discuss with client of monthly management accounts
Requirements:
- Minimum of a completed degree in accounting and if you have completed SAICA/ AGA/ SAIPA , that would be a bonus
- Minimum of 2 – 4 years’ accounting experience
- MS Office, Xero and Pastel proficient
- Highly numerate, strong accounting and taxation knowledge
- Good communication skills, written and spoken
- Able to work under pressure, deadline driven
