A position exists for a Management Accountant with an international market leader in the film and television production industry.

The individual will be responsible for the day to day management accounting and administration of the company and is directly responsible for managing the accounting department of the business unit.


Reporting to the Group Financial Manager and Managing Director, the Management Accountant will be responsible for managing the management accounting department of the business unit.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Financial related degree, with articles is a distinct advantage.
  • At least 2-3 years’ post articles experience in a manufacturing industry.
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience managing a team of at least 3.


  • Extensive working knowledge of Pastel V14 (accounting), Sage VIP (payroll) and Easyfile and E-filing (SARS) – at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced excel skills.
  • Advanced people management and communication skills (including written communication).
  • Ability to function effectively under tight reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly build extensive knowledge of operations and business processes.

Role description:

The role is also responsible for the operational function in costing analysis and management information needs. In addition, the incumbent should contribute to the ongoing efficiency and improvements in all areas of the business. The position interacts directly with seniors /operational managers in all functional areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide information to the Financial Manager to facilitate group management reporting.
  • Effective management of the accounting team.
  • Management of full treasury function. Includes reviewing and loading of monthly supplier EFT payments, ad hoc EFT payments and foreign supplier payments.
  • Preparation and reviewing of monthly salary payments on VIP. Loading of salary payments onto internet banking.
  • Preparation of month-end journal entries and balance sheet review.
  • Preparation and submission of all statutory tax returns (PAYE, UIF, SDL, VAT, WCA).
  • Preparation and submission of IRP5 reconciliation electronically via SARS Easyfile and E-filing.
  • Develop, implement and maintain product costing of inventory using Pastel.
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly costs and a variance of analysis including inter-company and salary account analysis.
  • Review and assisting with processing supplier invoices.
  • Providing input of cash flow forecasting where necessary.
  • Provision of the ad hoc analysis and advice as required.
  • Provision to on-going finance process improvements and enhancement of management information.
