Accountant

A well-established business in the wine industry is looking for a detail-oriented and driven Financial Accountant to join their finance team. If you are passionate about accuracy, compliance, and working in a dynamic environment, this opportunity offers exposure across financial reporting, statutory compliance, stock management, and forex administration.
 
What you’ll be doing:
Financial and Accounting Duties

Perform and post monthly bank reconciliations
Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Process month-end journals
Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate depreciation
Reconcile tasting room daily cash-ups with bank statements
Ensure accurate and timeous month-end and year-end reconciliations
Calculate and process sales commissions accurately

Statutory and Tax Compliance

Complete monthly EMP201 submissions
Prepare quarterly Stats SA financial questionnaires
Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time
Reconcile VAT accounts
Handle payroll-related statutory returns and submissions to SARS

Stock Management

Assist with stock takes and stock adjustments on the system
Process stock transfer orders between locations
Monitor and resolve stock discrepancies and transfer issues

Forex Administration

Complete incoming foreign funds detail on NedTreasury
Ensure all forex information is captured accurately before review

Admin and Support

Support and train the finance team on accounting-related matters
Assist with BEE information and audit requirements
Assist with financial audit preparation and audit queries
Liaise with the bank regarding administration and account changes
Assist with finance system integration and payroll support where necessary

This role sits at the heart of operations, ensuring accurate product costing, stock integrity, and meaningful financial insights. You’ll play a key part in supporting pricing decisions, margin analysis, and overall financial efficiency across production.
 
What you’ll be doing

Verify and analyse stock counts, investigating and reporting variances
Maintain accurate production orders and ensure correct cost allocation
Manage bulk stock transactions, including purchase orders and reconciliations
Compile and maintain supplier pricing and costing master data
Perform cost of goods sold (CoGS) analysis and margin reporting
Support reporting requirements, including compliance and financial surveys
